EDMONTON, A.B., CANADA, December 12, 2007 – Sometimes bigger is better. For example, Canada’s newest Fatburger restaurant will soon be serving up some of the biggest, juiciest burgers around in what promises to be the biggest open-air power centre in all of North America -- South Edmonton Common. A December 18 opening is planned.
“We are delighted to bring our uncommon burgers made with fresh AAA Canadian Alberta beef to discerning Edmonton residents and visitors who have an appreciation for the highest quality food served in an exciting atmosphere,” said Frank Di Benedetto, who is the president Frankie’s Burger Enterprises and the Ricky’s All Day Grill restaurant chain, and is the Fatburger franchisor for Western Canada.
In true Fatburger style, the new 2,500-square-foot restaurant will feature the iconic Los Angeles-based hamburger joint’s signature retro 1950s styling balanced with up-to-the-minute technology like flat screen TVs and a modern jukebox, and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages. The restaurant will seat 80 guests inside and on an outdoor patio and will employ a staff of 30. It is ideally situated near Starbucks and the IKEA store in the centre. For information about the new restaurant, which will be open seven days a week, call 780-469-8180.
Hungry guests may think they’ve stepped back in time to the days of diners as they enjoy watching and listening as cooks in the ultra clean, open kitchen shout out “Fatburger” when a Fatburger is ordered, and enthusiastically prepare Fatburgers, Kingburgers, Turkeyburgers, and Chicken Sandwiches, which are available with a wide selection of toppings, including cheese, bacon, egg, or chili.
The menu also includes chili dogs, homemade onion rings, “skinny” fries, and milkshakes made with real hand-scooped ice cream. The restaurant also caters to those who prefer Fatburger’s Veggieburger and Fat Salad Wedge.
Fatburgers already open in Western Canada include North Vancouver, downtown Vancouver, the Deerfoot Meadows lifestyle dining and shopping centre in Calgary, Langley’s Willowbrook Corner retail power centre, and Vancouver’s West End, Canada’s first Fatburger.
Coming soon are Fatburger restaurants in White Rock and another serving Ricky’s All Day Grill breakfast items and the full Fatburger menu in Prince George. He plans to further expand the chain’s presence in Western Canada over the next few years. Fatburger has an alliance with the Canadian Football League's BC Lions and is involved in many community events, including Vancouver’s Pride in the City parade.
“We are pleased that Fatburger has been so well received in Canada and know that Frank and his team have another success on their hands at South Edmonton Common,” said Elaine Patel, vice president of marketing, Fatburger North America, Inc.
