SAN ANTONIO, TX, January 16, 2006 -- Recognized for uniquely blending history and progress, San Antonio can claim another Texas milestone as it becomes home to the Lone Star State's first Fatburger restaurant, which opened January 16. Based in Santa Monica, Calif., Fatburger has become a household word for viewers of late night TV talk shows where celebrity hosts and their guests often mention the chain's big, juicy burgers as their favorites.
The newest Fatburger restaurant is located in San Antonio's upscale 18,000-square-foot CityView Village restaurant and retail center situated near Interstate 10 and Huebner Road. The address is 11224 Huebner Road, Suite 206.
To reach the restaurant, call 210-877-9080. Orders may be faxed to 210-877-9808. Restaurant hours are from 10:30 am until 11 pm, Sunday through Thursday, and 10:30 am until midnight, Friday and Saturday.
The Fatburger franchisee for the San Antonio and Austin markets is Triangle Restaurant Group L.P., headquartered in Austin.
The company's principals J. Michael Chargois, who is also the owner of three auto dealerships in Austin, San Marcos and Houston; Reggie Brown, a businessman and former linebacker with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League; and Mark Alegnani, CPA, of Dallas, Texas, have teamed up to open as many as 10 Fatburger locations in the next few years.
"I have been a Fatburger fan since the 1960s and have always stopped at a Fatburger restaurant when my travels took me to Los Angeles," said Chargois. "Now after a 10-year pursuit to bring Fatburger to Texas, we are ready to introduce these great-tasting burgers to our fellow Texans who take their beef-eating seriously."
In traditional Fatburger style, the spacious 2,510-square-foot restaurant features a hip '50s retro-style décor accented with neon lighting. The open kitchen lets customers in on the fun as they watch their Fatburgers being prepared to their exact specifications. Counter and table seating can accommodate up to 75 guests, while seating for an additional 20 diners is available on the outdoor patio.
To add to the friendly atmosphere inside the restaurant, patrons can enjoy a new breed of Web-enabled digital jukebox capable of playing more than 200,000 songs. The restaurant will employ approximately 30 crewmembers.
Guests with Texas-sized appetites are sure to enjoy the popular burger stand's signature 1/3 lb. Fatburger, made with fresh lean USDA domestic beef and available grilled or charbroiled. Lean Turkeyburgers, Chicken Sandwiches and chilidogs round out the offerings. Hamburgers, as well as the other sandwiches, may be garnished with cheese, bacon, egg, or chili.
Guests may choose from an assortment of beverages that includes soft drinks and milkshakes made with real ice cream. The chain's "fat" fries and onion rings, made fresh daily, round out the offerings.
"Fatburger and Texas are a great match," said Elaine Patel, vice president of marketing, Fatburger North America, Inc. "We are delighted that Michael, Reggie and Mark are bringing the Fatburger brand -- and, of course, our huge burgers to a state where size always matters."
